The Hanky Code
The Hanky Code.
The exact origins are more myth than facts. As early as the 1950s colored neckties are known to have been worn to signal homo tendencies to other homos. The Hanky Code emerges with the rise of motorcycle clubs and leather bar culture. While some take The Hanky Code, very serious, we recommend treating it more as conversation starter. How easily can you see color in a red light? From a seller side finding some of the materials alone are quite challenging, especially as blank bandanas to add imagery. We're not fat-phobic! We just can't source blank apricot bandanas.
Here is The Hanky Code as published in the seminal gay leather magazine Drummer.
