This hand-silkscreened bandana centers the message Drag Is Free Speech in bold, graphic form — a visual affirmation of joy, defiance, and the long tradition of drag as both performance and protest. Rendered in high-contrast pop-art style, the design reads instantly from a distance, whether in a crowd, on the street, or across a dance floor.
More than an accessory, this piece functions as a portable banner. It speaks to the role of drag in queer history as a site of resistance, visibility, healing, and self-invention, and to the ongoing necessity of defending it as protected expression.
Each bandana is hand silk-screened in New York City, giving every print subtle variations in ink and texture that mark it as true printmaking rather than mass reproduction.
Disclaimer: Based on years of printing, I intentionally use slightly irregularly sized bandanas for this edition because they’re made from an ultralight cotton weave. After the first wash, the fabric becomes exceptionally soft, breathable, and broken-in, making it far more comfortable for everyday wear than heavier, stiffer bandana stock.
Each piece features:
• Hand silkscreen printing in New York City
• Permanent acrylic ink on soft 100% cotton
• Central image size: approximately 17" × 17"
• Full bandana size: approximately 21" × 21"
• Cold hand wash recommended
A graphic statement of solidarity and style — for marches, performances, pride, and every moment where visibility itself is an act of speech.
